Freeport, Bahamas – The overwhelming support shown to the Grand Bahama Port Authority (GBPA) Conchman Triathlon last November from triathletes near and far, has prompted the organizing committee to begin early registration for the increasingly popular competition, which is scheduled for Saturday, November 2nd on Taino Beach in Freeport.

Interested persons can register online now at www.conchmantriathlon.com and take advantage of the 50% off early registration discount presently being offered until September 30th. All event categories are open, including Individual Sprint, Individual Olympic, Relay Team, Corporate Challenge, Secondary School Challenge and the crowd favorite, the Iron Kids Competition.

The 33rdAnnual GBPA Conchman Triathlon is expected to draw large numbers again this year. A record two hundred athletes participated in the event last year, forty-six teams competed in various categories, and over thirty participants travelled to Grand Bahama to compete.

Chairman Christopher Baker is encouraged by the positive feedback the committee has received from competitors, and is confident Conchman will continue to attract athletes from other countries and the family islands to Grand Bahama. He attributed Conchman’s success to the support of the event’s sponsors.

“We are grateful to all our sponsors”, said Baker, “without them the Conchman Triathlon would not be over 30 years old. We thank them for their support and we look forward to continuing to work with them in the years to come.” The Chairman noted that the triathlon does require additional funding each year to grow, and to “promote it throughout The Bahamas, the US, around the Caribbean, and overseas.”

Indicators suggest that past advertising campaigns to International triatheletes have been effective, Baker noted that “we are already seeing the benefits of these promotions with the increased numbers of participants from the U.S., Trinidad, and Antigua.”

“Each year we set out to beat our previous participant numbers,” noted the Chairman, also a triathlete. “We support our fellow events, like the Potcake Man, Ride for Hope, and they in turn support us. The Bahamas is really beginning to shine in this arena and who wouldn’t want to swim, run and bike in this gorgeous country!”

The Grand Bahama Port Authority (GBPA) is the title sponsor of Conchman Triathlon.
